About The Position

The Residential Aide position at the City Emergency Shelter Facility in Jamaica, NY, is a full-time role focused on providing support and supervision to clients in a nonprofit social services environment. The position requires adherence to a structured program schedule, ensuring client safety and compliance with facility guidelines. The role involves monitoring client participation in activities, conducting routine checks of the facility, and providing transportation for clients to off-site appointments. The Residential Aide will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and participating in staff meetings.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED/equivalent required.
• Minimum one year's experience working in social services.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that clients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, tracking attendance as required.
• Monitor participation in program events and activities, if applicable.
• Conduct and document routine room/bed and facility checks, minimally every thirty minutes, to ensure client and facility safety and security.
• Evaluate the client's property/items upon admission to ensure compliance with facility and program guidelines.
• Provide safe, timely, and supervised transportation of clients to off-site appointments or activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and/or other reports in a timely manner, in accordance with policy and procedures.
• Participate and facilitate the occurrence of shift change.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings as needed.
• Provide essential information to case management staff, as needed.
• Make hourly tours of the facility, logging all pertinent activity.
• Manage after-hours incidents and emergencies, as required, notifying the appropriate staff.
• Coordinate and facilitate all scheduled nighttime activities (i.e., fire drill, evacuation, etc.).
• Complete room-to-room headcounts three times each night.
• Conduct routine facility checks to ensure facility safety and security.
