About The Position

As a DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES RESIDENTIIAL ADVISOR, you become part of a supportive and dedicated team committed to the well-being of adults living with Developmental Disabilities in a company -owned community residence. Residential Advisors represent the Northern Human Services culture by being participant-centered Direct Support Professionals. RAs work within a comfortable home-like setting to provide support and companionship to our individuals as they navigate daily living. This could include assisting in daily living tasks as well as ensuring individuals have regular access to their community via social connections, fitness, recreation, attending appointments, volunteering, education, employment and more. Our Residential Advisors also often assist in household duties and report on any building or grounds safety concerns. All staff are trained to provide safe and nurturing care for the individuals participating in our programs. Awake and overnight-asleep shifts available. Holiday and weekend shifts required.

Requirements

• Good communication, self-directed, detail-oriented, patient, creative and compassionate
• Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
• Must be adept at conflict resolution
• Must maintain a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate auto insurance
• Consistently act with honesty and integrity while demonstrating strong commitment to quality services and the interests of the individuals served
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as well as NHS’s rules and standards
• Driving and criminal background checks required!

Nice To Haves

• CPR Certification (preferred)
• A degree or certification in a Human Services field and relevant prior work experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living: culinary, housekeeping, organization, socialization, recreation and more
• Provide emotional support through active listening, discussing concerns, acting as a positive role model and encouraging individuals to make good choices and achieve personal goals
• Monitor the wellbeing of your individual and report any significant changes
• Must maintain a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate auto insurance
• Consistently act with honesty and integrity while demonstrating strong commitment to quality services and the interests of the individuals served
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as well as NHS’s rules and standards
• Attend required in-service training programs and meetings, including service planning for individuals
