About The Position

As a Residential Advisor, you’ll be the heartbeat of our dorm community, mentoring, motivating, and guiding young adults (ages 16–24) as they build brighter futures through education and career training. The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: ⚡ Electrical Wiring 🪚 Carpentry 🏗 Building Construction Technology 🍳 Culinary Arts 🍽 Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training. We began as a small business formed in 1990 with the sole mission of operating at-risk youth and children's programs for local, state, and federal governmental agencies. Today, we are one of the largest workforce providers involved in the federal Job Corps program! Adams and Associates employs more than 2,000 staff members across the United States. Each year we provide academic, vocational training, and placement services to approximately 9,000 young people from ages 16 to 24 primarily in a residential setting. Our academic and career technical training programs are accredited and lead to national industry-recognized credentials. Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the Job Corps program. Your Role: More Than a Job—It’s a Mission! Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required.
  • Licensing: A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess the lift load to ask for necessary assistance

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and accomplish goals
  • Determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselor
  • Assist in unit activities, including unit government
  • Patrol and monitor dormitories and center, ensuring safety and proper behavior; resolve problems
  • Prepare daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence
  • Direct students and assist in cleanup and maintenance of dormitory
  • Recommend or requisition supplies for dorm living and student safety
  • Maintain dormitory and individual student files, ensuring they are complete and updated
  • Enter student case notes in the center information system
  • Participate in career development services by ensuring a safe living environment and positive peer leadership
  • Provide guidance, counseling, group sessions, and independent living skills
  • Work overtime when directed; maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and center customers
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy
  • Promote career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring behavior through interventions
  • Other duties as assigned
