About The Position

The Horizons Program is a regional perinatal/maternal substance abuse treatment program of the Department of OB- GYN at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This program provides comprehensive, gender specific outpatient and residential treatment for pregnant women, mothers, and their children. In our program, a pregnant woman or a mother and her children age 0-11 may reside in their own apartment for up to one year. The mother works on her recovery from active addiction, trauma and other mental health issues, parenting, and education and employment for self-sufficiency. The children who reside with the mother receive comprehensive evaluations and treatment as indicated. Residential Advisors provide individual and family support to the families in the UNC Horizons program. This position is for a residential advisor that will provide support to the women and children in the Sunrise program. The RAs provide transportation, recovery support, observed urine drug screens, observation of medication self-administration, and basic life skills support. All staff are responsible to ensure the safety of the women and children in our program by conducting rounds. Residential advisors are also responsible for ensuring that the apartments are ready for incoming patients, searching program participant belongings, conducting random apartment searches, and other duties as assigned by the Lead RA or the Program Manager.
