The Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school. We serve students in grades 6 to 12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. The Northwest School seeks Residential Advisors who love interacting and engaging with students. We are currently hiring for all shifts, with priority for afternoon/evening, weekend, and overnight shifts. Afternoon/evening week and weekend shifts typically come in 8-hour increments and begin at 1pm or after. The overnight shift is 12am (midnight) to 8am. Residential Advisor positions are either Full-time (30-40 hours a week) or part-time (less than 30 hours a week). The Residential Advisor position is a 12-month position. Please note the position type and hours below for current vacancies. Full-time positions are benefits eligible. Resident Advisors do not live on campus, and room/board is not included in the compensation package. We are hiring for one open .75 FTE (anticipated 30 hours per week) Residential Advisor position. Essential Functions Include: Facilitate a safe, inclusive, and comfortable environment for residents, guests, and fellow faculty, through on-going interactions with students and support upkeep of the dormitory. Assist residential students with their transition to the Northwest School, living together in a boarding program, and (for international students) the acclimation to the United States. Design and implement programming with the purpose of building community, increasing opportunities for interaction and belonging, which includes but is not limited to, mealtime programming, off-campus excursions, and on-campus social and educational events. Account for student attendance through the completion of review and approval of student neighborhood & off campus leave requests and rollcalls, tracking arrivals and departures, as well as student attendance at meals and events. Provide academic support with school assignments during and outside facilitation of study hall. Refer students to appropriate school resources and faculty as needed. Provide student support in addressing behavioral and disciplinary concerns as well appropriately document and relay information to the appropriate faculty to support student success. Attend and participate in ongoing Boarding Faculty meetings, training sessions, and all school meetings as directed. Work collaboratively with all school faculty and students. Drive school vehicles as necessary for activities or transporting students to and from the airport. Complete shift logs at the end of each shift to ensure necessary information and issues are passed to all relevant faculty. Monitor condition of facilities, and report concerns to Residential Life Coordinators or Facilities department as appropriate. Support the implementation of administration boarding operations to include resident move-in and move-out, break closures, room checks, and Environment (student cleaning of spaces.) Residential Advisors work throughout the Northwest School’s 6-week summer program continuing to provide building coverage, programmatic support, and operational continuity between academic year boarding responsibilities and implementation of summer boarding. Partner with Dining Service Faculty & Boarding Residents to collaboratively curate culturally diverse dining options periodically for Boarding Residents. Other appropriate responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Residential Life Coordinators in order to support a thriving Boarding Program.
