About The Position

The Hawaii Job Corps Center is seeking candidates for On-Call Residential Advisor positions. Reporting to the Social Development Manager or designee, the Residential Advisor is responsible for residential activities that ensure maximum program coordination, student discipline, and the preparation of records and reports, in compliance with government and management directives. The role involves monitoring group living conditions, evaluating situations within the dormitories, and making decisions or recommendations to ensure safety and proper student behavior. Additionally, the advisor will perform duties related to student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, and terminations for their assigned shift. Communication with families of students is also required to resolve problems and assure the well-being of students. The advisor will coordinate dormitory activities, facilitate Career Success Standards (CSS) group sessions, maintain required records, and function as the center duty officer (CDO) as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year experience working with youth required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor group living conditions and evaluate situations within the dormitories.
  • Make decisions and/or recommendations to ensure safety and proper student behavior.
  • Perform duties involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, and terminations for assigned shift.
  • Communicate with families of students to resolve problems and assure their well-being.
  • Coordinate activities of dormitories including recreation and entertainment, dorm competitions, and after-hours tutoring.
  • Facilitate Career Success Standards (CSS) group sessions and provide guidance in CSS development.
  • Maintain required records and update CIS information on students regularly.
  • Function as center duty officer (CDO) as assigned.
