About The Position

Provides health care and treatment of patients within the scope of practice as defined by one’s training and/or Board Certification. Administers high quality care and service in accordance with HealthSystem Minnesota standards. Models behaviors consistent with group practice and HealthSystem Minnesota values.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medicine or Osteopathy
  • The resident must maintain current state licensure and DEA certificate.
  • The resident must be credentialed at Methodist Hospital.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
  • Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Personal Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier, Printer, and electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

  • The resident agrees to accept the duties, responsibilities, and rotations assigned by the program director or designee and to conduct himself or herself ethically and professionally in keeping with his or her position as a physician, in the care of patients and in relationships with other hospital/clinic staff.
  • The resident agrees to participate fully in the educational and scholarly activities of the residency program and as required, to assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and medical students.
  • The resident agrees to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care of patients under faculty supervision, commensurate with the resident's level of education and experience.
  • The resident agrees to abide by the bylaws, policies, rules, and regulations of the Medical School, HealthSystem Minnesota, the University of Minnesota, and the hospital and clinics to which assigned.
  • The resident agrees to meet state, federal, and University of Minnesota requirements for participating in a residency program prior to the start of training. These requirements include earning an M.D. or D.O. degree, submitting proof of immunization, completing a background study request under Minnesota law, complying with state licensure requirements by obtaining either a residency permit or unrestricted physician license, as required by the individual residency program, obtaining a DEA registration permit if required by the individual program, obtaining a J-l visa if the resident is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and complying with any other requirements established by the individual residency program.
  • The resident agrees to complete the curriculum and rotations laid out in the resident policy and procedure manual.
  • Maintains the medical record in accordance with HSM standards.
  • Recognizes and appropriately responds to medical emergencies.
  • Serves as patient advocate by maintaining patient confidentiality, protecting patient rights, communicating in a timely manner, and resolving concerns or complaints regarding care and service.
  • Performs other related tasks.
  • Complies with safety instructions, observe safe work practices, provides input on safety issues, and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Maintains regular and timely attendance.
  • Protects confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates participation in and support of the organization's Corporate Integrity Program by participating in compliance-related education and training and complying with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Timely completion of all mandatory education and organizational requirements (i.e., licensure/certification, Employee Health and Wellness requirements, annual training, etc.)
