Requirements

  • Knowledge of the geriatric population and dementia is preferred.
  • Please note that specific state regulations and requirements may be applicable. These regulations take precedence over the requirements outlined in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, orients, and assesses internal and external volunteers to participate in the social programming of the community in accordance with standards and corporate guidelines.
  • Partners with the Continuing Care Program Team to identify specific resident and departmental needs and to seek connections with appropriate volunteer resources, including intergenerational activities and connection to independent living activities.
  • Creates volunteer recognition programs to maximize retention of volunteers and ensure an environment where volunteers and unpaid interns may grow and develop.
  • Assists residents to develop activities within the community as well as outside the community, while encouraging self-sufficiency among residents.
  • Collaborates with all pertinent departments to coordinate room usage for activities/events.
  • Maintains and distributes electronic and paper-based calendars; provides activities and events listings to residents and relevant departments with descriptive information on events, clubs, and activities in the community.
  • Acts as liaison between the community and any colleges or educational networks which may provide course opportunities or offerings within the community.
  • Maintains community event information in the MyEvents system.
  • Supports the resident management of Community Spiritual functions.
  • Supports the resident organization of outreach and fellowship in the community for those residents not drawn to current Community Spiritual programs.
