About The Position

The Resident Services Assistant/CNA is responsible for providing residents with nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and plan of care and as directed. This role involves a variety of essential job functions aimed at ensuring the well-being and comfort of residents in a skilled nursing facility.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or obtain certification within 4 months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years experience in long term care preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills within thirty days of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
  • Must possess flexibility.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to the special needs of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provides services to residents including activities of daily living.
  • Participate in the orientation of new residents to the facility including obtaining resident information.
  • Assists with and/or arrange services, appointments, recreational activities, etc. for residents as directed.
  • Assists with the admission and discharge of residents.
  • Documents services provided as required.
  • Reports all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
  • Performs restorative and rehabilitation procedures as instructed.
  • Checks each resident regularly to ensure that his/her needs are being met.
  • Assists in transporting residents to/from dining room, therapy, activity and social programs, etc., as necessary.
  • Encourages residents to participate in socialization activities.
  • Assists with the investigation of resident complaints and grievances as directed.
  • Assists with obtaining supplies and equipment for residents as directed.
  • Performs resident care including lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transferring residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., as necessary, utilizing facility technique.
  • Keeps resident rooms and resident care areas clean and neat.
  • Attends resident care plan meetings as directed.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities as requested.
  • Performs other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
