The Resident Project Representative is responsible for on-site administrative and construction observation services on behalf of the client and engineering design team for project field-related activities. This includes coordinating, reviewing, and evaluating that products, installations, schedules, applications, and work provided by the contractor are in conformance with the engineering drawings and specifications. The Resident Project Representative regularly communicates with the engineering team, the contractor, owner, client, and other parties to coordinate the contractor's schedule, progress, work and deliverables. Observe general contractor and subcontractor activities to evaluate that installations are in conformance with the contractual and or design documents. This includes observations of the materials, work in progress, and finished installations. Communicate and interface with Engineering Manager and discipline engineers to resolve field engineering items and contractor non-conformance. Develop and distribute project status reports through detailed daily project logs and frequent, regular project site photographs documenting work as it progresses. Facilitate regular communication with engineering, the owner, client, contractor and other stakeholders to improve project communication and performance. Lead and oversee field meetings including project progress meetings. Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities and other contractors as necessary to execute projects. Collaborate with the project team, owner, and contractor to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) as well as issue Field Orders, Change Order Requests, or other project documents that may be required to facilitate project construction. Review delivered materials and verify conformance with approved drawings and submittals. Provide technical assistance, recommendation of construction methods and equipment installation, and interpretation of drawings. Develop and foster effective client and contractor relationships. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. Adhere to Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies, as well as collaborate with the project teams to manage the Safety & Health performance of the project/program team members and others as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Experience as a lead construction project manager or resident project representative preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering plans, drawings, specifications, construction permitting, construction standards, means, and methods.
  • Experience with surveying and materials testing preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in document control software and project management systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience as a lead construction project manager.
  • Broad exposure to communication with engineers, owners, clients, and contractors.
