About The Position

This program offers the resident intensive training in the management of ocular disease and trauma, as well as pre- and post-surgical patient care. Residents have the opportunity to become proficient in the use and interpretation of visual fields, biometry, and Optical Coherence Tomography.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree program from an accredited college or school of optometry
  • Passed NBEO Part I, II, and TMOD
  • Eligible to obtain an optometric license to practice in Florida
  • Ability to work on-call

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to participate in the local county Optometric Associations

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly didactic lectures with our staff doctors
  • Observe surgical procedures performed by staff ophthalmologists including, but not limited to:
  • Cataract extraction
  • Penetrating keratoplasty (PKP)
  • Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK)
  • Refractive surgery such as LASIK and PRK
  • Oculoplastic surgeries
  • Minor office procedures
