About The Position

The Resident Monitor position at The Salvation Army involves accepting and processing residents who stay in the lodge or shelter overnight. This role includes receiving and receipting fees from residents, monitoring their activities during assigned shifts to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules. The Resident Monitor is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records and logs that contain pertinent information about the residents and their activities. Additionally, the position requires ensuring that the lodge or shelter is kept in a neat and proper order, which includes checking fire equipment and ensuring it is in proper working order before the arrival of residents. Key responsibilities include distributing towels, linens, and personal hygiene items, as well as securing and distributing client medications as required. The Resident Monitor will also receive, receipt, and process payments for rent, obtaining clients' signatures on necessary forms and program rules. Monitoring the activities of program residents is crucial, ensuring their safety and compliance with house rules. This includes checking the security of all windows and doors, monitoring cameras, and making periodic rounds of the entire facility. The Resident Monitor must respond to emergencies calmly and initiate appropriate corrective actions according to established policies and procedures, assisting with any verbal or physical aggressions that may occur from residents. Other responsibilities include completing required paperwork for client intake, inputting data into the computer to maintain records, preparing and balancing monetary transactions, and assigning housekeeping tasks to residents. The Resident Monitor will also answer telephone inquiries regarding program operations and administer drug testing of clients as needed. The work environment is a lodge/shelter facility where physical discomforts are minimal, and the role is essential in providing a safe and supportive environment for residents.
