Expectations: This position is for residents that have already been contacted by the Medical Staffing office at Huntington Hospital. The resident participates fully in the educational activities of the training program and assumes responsibility for teaching and supervision of other residents and medical students. The resident, under the supervision of the attending teaching staff and the chief resident, provides medical care commensurate with their level of advancement and competence which increases yearly with added experience. This position requires flexibility of hours. EDUCATION: 1. Graduate of medical schools in the United States or Canada accredited either by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), or accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). 2. Graduate of foreign medical schools outside the United States and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications: a. Receipt of a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG); or b. Possession of a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. licensing jurisdiction. 3. United States citizen graduates from foreign medical schools outside the United States and Canada who cannot qualify under (2) above, but who have successfully completed the licensure examination in a U.S. jurisdiction, one in which the law or regulations provide that a full and unrestricted license to practice will be granted without further examination after successful completion of a specific period of graduate medical education; 4. Graduate of medical schools in the United States and its territories not accredited by the LCME but recognized by the educational and licensure authorities in a medical licensing jurisdiction, who have completed the procedures described in (3) above; 5. Graduate of foreign medical schools outside the United States who have completed a Fifth Pathways program provided by an LCME accredited medical school. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association SKILLS: Ability to communicate and interact well with others, be a team player, mature, empathetic, non-judgmental, experienced with underserved populations, hands-on patient care, reliable and stable, warm and humane, well-organized, resourceful, well-rounded, independent, a sense of professionalism in mannerisms and appearance, flexible, enthusiastic, able to cope with stress and change, positive attitude, high energy, straightforward, confident and hardworking.
