About The Position

M&J Engineering, P.C. is seeking a Resident Engineer with a NY PE License and 5-25 years’ experience of Resident Engineering experience to join our construction management team on wastewater projects as well as recreational parks construction projects within the NYC Metropolitan Area. Excellent communications and client relations skills with are a must, with the ability to manage a large staff of field personnel and work as a team player. M&J Engineering, P.C. (M&J) is a leader in construction management and inspection, civil, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel, airport, port, marine/coastal, and environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations. Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer on wastewater and pumping station projects and/or recreational parks construction projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field.
  • NY Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • NYCDEP or NYCParks Dept. experience is a plus.
  • Construction Management Association of America Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise inspection staff and Assistant Resident Engineer to complete assignments and delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with client’s requirements.
  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Provides daily on-site construction management and site inspections.
  • Provides technical review of construction plans, specifications, and project changes for constructability and practicality.
  • Manage office staff responsible for record-keeping general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
  • Responsible for overall site safety, permit condition compliance, and coordination with other City Agencies.
  • Monitors Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
  • Exerts influence over Contractors to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
  • Assists the Construction Manager in preparing proposals to provide professional services.
