About The Position

Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer - Highway in Utah Responsibilities Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures. Assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of structural construction such as bridges, foundations, walls, false work, shoring, and drainage structures. Supervise the construction team about contract compliance, quality control, safety, traffic/pedestrian routing, and site clean-up requirements. Ensure the completion and proper documentation of all required tests, measurements, inspections, reports, and necessary field documents. Participate pre-construction meetings Document tracking and management Conduct construction progress meetings Coordinate agreements with and work of sub-consultants and services Maintain on-going contact with the Construction Project Manager Qualifications 10+ years of experience on roadway and highway construction projects, 5 years minimum on highway construction projects Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering required Licensed Professional Engineer Experience and expert knowledge of highway construction, including maintenance of traffic, drainage, paving, SWPPP, CPM scheduling, material testing, and contract administration Ability to work effectively with engineers, owners, contractors, and the public Demonstrated ability to resolve field problems expeditiously to minimize delays and claims. Demonstrated ability to expeditiously negotiate contract change orders and develop an effective defense against construction claims. Ability to manage multiple parties working simultaneously on a single project. Demonstrated ability to write professional / technical / contract letters and reports. Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams of project management personnel. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience on roadway and highway construction projects, 5 years minimum on highway construction projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience and expert knowledge of highway construction, including maintenance of traffic, drainage, paving, SWPPP, CPM scheduling, material testing, and contract administration
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, owners, contractors, and the public
