Job SummaryThe Resident District Manager (RDM)—also known as a Group Manager—is a senior multi‑unit leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of dining operations across one or multiple independent K–12 schools. This role is accountable for client partnerships, operational excellence, team leadership, financial performance, and adherence to regulatory standards across all assigned accounts within the territory.The RDM plays a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience while ensuring alignment with company standards, school culture, and community expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive food service management experience, including at least 5 years in institutional or contract dining.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams of 15+ employees.
  • ServSafe Manager certification (required).
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and inventory management.
  • Deep knowledge of health department standards, USDA requirements, OSHA protocols, and other regulatory compliance areas.
  • Contract management experience, including understanding of performance metrics, SLAs, and contractual obligations.
  • Proven success driving operational excellence, client satisfaction, and financial results across multiple units or a large, complex account.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Food Service Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry platforms (POS, menu management, inventory systems).
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.

Nice To Haves

  • K–12, independent school, college/university dining, or contract dining experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in allergy‑sensitive or nutritionally regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a dining account or a portfolio of accounts with a Total Managed Volume (TMV) of $3M–$8M, typically across multiple schools and diverse client relationships.
  • Oversee all day‑to‑day operations, ensuring excellence in food quality, service, safety, hospitality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and school leadership, serving as the primary point of contact across all assigned accounts.
  • Directly supervise and support on‑site leaders—including Directors of Dining Services, Executive Chefs, and Catering Managers—with a strong focus on coaching, performance management, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, nutritional, allergy, USDA, and health department regulations.
  • Supervise and drive performance across operational and financial metrics, including food and labor costs, student participation, and client satisfaction.
  • Own and manage financial performance for each account, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, invoicing, inventory oversight, and full P&L accountability.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (Culinary, HR, Finance, Marketing, Compliance) to roll out initiatives, solve challenges, and elevate service standards.
  • Lead contract management efforts, ensuring alignment with service‑level agreements (SLAs), performance metrics, and all contractual obligations.
  • Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, professional growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the organization in client retention efforts, contract renewals, school events, and community engagement initiatives.
