About The Position

Carter Support Services is seeking an experienced Resident District Manager to oversee a large and dynamic K–12 school district food service operation in Salem, Oregon. This leadership role is responsible for managing multi-site operations, driving operational excellence, building strong client relationships, and ensuring high-quality food service delivery across dozens of locations serving thousands of students. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in K–12 food service operations, team leadership, financial management, and safety compliance, along with the ability to lead large teams in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, drive operational performance, and create a positive dining experience for students and school communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of functional experience in food service or operations
  • Prior experience working in K–12 school food service
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving employee engagement
  • Culinary production and food service operations experience
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation compliance
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day food service operations across multiple school locations
  • Manage both on-site and remote teams to ensure operational efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, service delivery, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and execute operational and growth strategies
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational performance
  • Lead initiatives that support district goals and community engagement
  • Manage budgets and ensure financial targets are met
  • Monitor operational performance and profitability
  • Analyze financial and operational reports to drive improvements
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and the school district
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Support community engagement and partnership initiatives
  • Lead, coach, and develop management and operational teams
  • Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Ensure staffing, training, and performance standards are maintained
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain operational compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all locations
