About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Resident District Manager at Western Carolina University will lead food and beverage operations in the Western North Carolina market. WCU Dining provides students, faculty and staff with a variety of dining choices which include: 2 residential dining rooms, each with its own unique look, feel, and localized menu; 10 retail outlets, including Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, Chick-fil-A and a convenience store; a sit down restaurant concept - Town House - which caters to the university and is open to the public; and Catamount Catering, the on-campus provider for VIP events, departments, and student groups. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity to serve as a thought leader to keep the overall dining program at the forefront of trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Experience leading Collegiate Hospitality dining services is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience, typically acquired over 10+ years, including P&L responsibility within the hospitality, retail, facilities, direct store delivery or food and beverage industries.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a broad knowledge of management practices, business judgement and client/consumer interaction.
  • Confirmed ability to hire, assess, develop and grow hard-working talent.
  • Comfortable reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements.
  • Established communication and teamwork skills to work with all levels on the organization.
  • Proven success in a repeatable business model, including leading through change and turnaround initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree is generally required; advanced degree in business or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of the account including retail sales, finance, human resources, and dining operations with full P&L accountability.
  • Drive retail and catering sales growth and profitability, while maintaining a hospitality centric program.
  • Develop short- and long-term operational strategies in partnership with client and Aramark senior team members.
  • Create a culture of culinary excellence and customer service that embraces the diversity and Western Carolina University.
  • Lead and manage a highly productive, motivated and driven team through strong communication, empowerment, reward and coaching techniques.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with partner groups in functional areas, including Safety & Risk, Health & Wellness, Sustainability, Dining and Retail Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain and Compliance.
  • Partner with the business unit leaders and other key stakeholders to drive change and implement new business processes.
