In the Resident Coordinator role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure living environment for participants in a residential substance use disorder treatment program. This position will work alongside a comprehensive team of skilled professionals. The Resident Coordinator provides support to substance use disorder counselors and behavioral health clinicians to ensure proper supervision throughout each shift.

  • Maintains a safe and secure living environment for participants (drug, alcohol, violence-free)
  • Acclimates new participants to their living arrangements; assists with participant exits
  • Supports direct line staff in maintaining and enforcing of all program policies and procedures and rules
  • Monitors participant affairs and helps to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Assists staff in participant room searches
  • Promptly notifies supervisor (as well as other appropriate staff) of any problematic participant behaviors, compliance issues, or any other problems that arise
  • Supports direct client staff in supervising assigned chores to participants; oversee completion of chores and ensure safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Supports staff in ensuring participants transition to each part of their daily schedule (including but not limited to: waking up, meal times, smoke breaks, daily groups)
  • Reviews the daily shift log and update next shift of any notable issues
  • Accurately records all emergency, disciplinary, and other events that occur during the scheduled shift
  • Immediately reports medical emergencies to the appropriate agencies/organizations; administers First Aid/CPR, and follow agency protocol and standard procedures in emergency situations
  • Performs wellness checks on participants as needed or required
  • Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
  • Works with Program Manager, SUD counselors, and behavioral health clinicians to maintain cohesiveness of the community
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple deadlines and working effectively under pressure, using independent judgment to produce quality work under time constraints
  • Demonstrated experience working with a collaborative team
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate effectively among a diverse workforce population and maintain sound working relations with all levels within the organization
  • Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including client and employee information
  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner

  • Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance on a frequent basis
  • Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, computers and similar office equipment and supplies
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking
  • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
  • Must be able to hear, see, including distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins
  • Knowledge of the alcohol and other drug recovery field, preferred
  • Experience working with severely mentally ill, substance use disorder, and homeless populations, preferred
  • Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Certification, preferred
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish), preferred
