About The Position

The position assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, developing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff. It involves the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures. The role includes working with the DON to recruit, hire, and train nursing staff, as well as assisting with employee appraisals and resolving problems, including disciplinary actions. The position acts as a backup for the DON, RN, and LVN staff and may require providing direct resident care as needed. Responsibilities also include overseeing clinical operations, making daily rounds, monitoring resident conditions, ensuring resident safety, and treating residents with respect. The position serves as a liaison between residents, family members, and physicians, attends staff meetings, and conducts meetings if the DON is unavailable. It involves providing reports and recommendations to the DON regarding nursing services and assisting in the design, implementation, and evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care while promoting resident rights. The role also includes conducting ongoing in-services for nursing staff and maintaining confidentiality regarding residents and employees.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Maintain all required continuing education/licensing requirements.
  • 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
