About The Position

The Resident Care Aide at Mercy McMahon Terrace is responsible for providing essential care services to residents under the direction of the Resident Services Manager. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring a supportive environment that aligns with the mission and philosophy of the facility.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and work with the population of Mercy McMahon Terrace.
  • Ability to learn and perform resident care procedures according to the approved manual.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written procedures and instructions.
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

  • Receives report from previous shift and organizes shift assignments.
  • Admits transfers and discharges residents.
  • Assists residents with toileting and dressing activities, bedmaking, and tidying of the unit.
  • Delivers meals and nourishments to residents.
  • Makes regular rounds for appropriate patients and takes vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Monitors residents for temporary illnesses and ensures meal delivery for those unable to leave their units.
  • Observes, reports, and documents any changes in residents' conditions to the Resident Services Manager or on-duty LVN.
  • Answers emergency call signals and charts in individual Resident Care Charts when appropriate.
  • Completes incident reports when applicable and informs the manager of any charges for medical supplies given to residents.
  • Assists community agencies such as Hospice/Home Care in providing care to residents.
  • Assists relatives, visitors, and guests, directing requests or concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with other departments and interacts supportively with all team members.
  • Performs other duties as instructed by Administration.
