About The Position

Elderwood at Cheektowaga is currently seeking supportive and nurturing Resident Care Aides to join our clinical team! Resident care aides will assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing personal care support. This position is responsible for meeting the physical and emotional needs of residents under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse ensuring that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times. Applicants must possess a valid HHA or PCA certification to be considered for this position. Medication technician experience is preferred. Currently Hiring For Days: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM 2 shifts/week & every other weekend Evenings: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM 3 shifts/week & every other weekend. Requirements

  • Eighteen (18) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certification by an approved basic training program approved by the Department of Health.
  • Must maintain current annual skills testing approval.
  • Ability to assist residents with all aspects of Daily Living Activities including bathing, toileting, and transferring.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds; occasional 2 person lift up to 120 pounds.
  • Ability to verbally communicate well with residents, families and staff members.
  • Ability to read and understand task assignments.
  • Ability to report verbally and provide written documentation as required.
  • Display of genuine concern for the elderly; a dependable, patient and compassionate attitude towards residents.
  • Respectful demeanor of residents rights and wishes.
  • Ability to cooperate and maintain respectful treatment with others.
  • Sense of responsibility, maturity, diplomacy and ability to work well with residents, families and other staff members.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks to a high degree of excellence and cleanliness.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Daily Living Activities including meal assistance, grooming, medication management, showering, dressing/undressing.
  • Move and walk quickly and steadily in an emergency situation.
  • Assist with wheelchair transport of resident(s).
  • Apply/utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Respond immediately to residents' requests.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) according to their plan of care.
  • Notify Supervisor of changes in residents' conditions or needs.
  • Maintain facility standards for resident care.
  • Assist with service in the dining room for all meals as needed.
  • Inform nurse responsible for the care of resident and document duties performed as necessary.
  • Attend facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.
  • Generate and develop ideas which improve the quality of care for residents.
  • Utilize electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled.
  • Recognize and follow the dress code of the facility.
  • Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices.
  • Support and abide by Elderwood's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abide by Elderwood's business code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage of $16.50 - $18.02.
