About The Position

Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Resident Camp Unit Leader aids in supervising and effectively leading a group of campers in daily camp activities. Resident Camp Unit Leaders provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers and are actively involved and have a positive attitude about all camp activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
  • Completion of required trainings.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and mentors Cabin staff
  • Plans and directs all unit activities.
  • Ensures camper and staff safety during summer program
  • Supervises unit activities and cabin staff that they meet State, ACA and YMCA ratios and regulations.
  • Supervises Cabin Acts.
  • Assists Program Director in the planning and implementation of evening programs.
  • Assists Program director with scheduling of all camp programs
  • Assists in staff training
  • Attends morning support staff meetings
  • Works a table at check in and check out
  • Works one hold-over weekend
  • Develop/Supervise Unit Clean-up schedule/all camp clean up
  • Does a daily cabin inspection
  • Deals with second step of camper discipline-homesick problems
  • Writes evaluations on each unit staff member each session
  • Assists in camp night supervision (CQ)
  • Any other duties assigned.
