Miriam's Kitchen (MK) is a mission-driven nonprofit working to end chronic homelessness in Washington, D.C. through meaningful relationships, high-quality meals, and holistic support services. We advocate for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution while meeting immediate needs through nourishing meals and high-quality social services for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. The Bridge Housing program is a non-congregate bridge housing program that opened in September 2025. Its primary goal is to help residents exit to permanent housing within 3–6 months. The program serves up to 190 residents at full capacity in semi-private, dormitory-style rooms, is open 24/7, and serves adults of all genders. Target populations include individuals matched to a permanent housing resource and those who cannot be adequately served by existing low-barrier shelters. All residents must be referred through city systems. The Resident Assistant is an essential member of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to advocating for and supporting residents of E Street. This role ensures the safety of the building, enforces program rules, serves as part of the emergency response team, and maintains close communication with case managers to ensure residents receive the services they need.
