About The Position

The position is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and predictable environment by monitoring the dormitories of Job Corps participants, overseeing their daily activities, and tracking their progress toward achieving the goals and objectives outlined in their performance contract.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; some college coursework in Human Services preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year of related experience, working with young people between the ages of 16 and 24.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent relationship-building, leadership, and effective communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate and work under minimal supervision.
  • Technological skills: Proficiency with computers and computer systems, including case management tools and office software.
  • Driver's license: Valid state category 4 driver's license and good driving record.
  • Certification: Certification under Puerto Rico Law 300.
  • Availability: To work weekends, holidays, and cover absences in the department according to the needs of the center.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with assigned students at least bi-weekly.
  • Manage student incidents to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Document individual meetings, addressing issues and outlining plans for resolution.
  • Coordinate services with other staff through memos, phone calls, or personal conversations.
  • Conduct dormitory inspections and maintain acceptable ratings.
  • Actively participate in events, modeling professional behavior and employment skills for students.
  • Complete assignments within established time frames with minimal need for corrections.
  • Maintain up-to-date student folders reflecting the history of services provided to support short- and long-term goals.
  • Ensure accuracy of student data and submit within required time frames.
  • Follow established procedures for medical and AWOL removal logs within designated time frames.
  • Make regular entries in dorm logs to document conditions during rounds.
  • Ensure all accountability documents and reports are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
