About The Position

As a Resident Activities Program Coordinator / Activity Leader, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Elderwood Village at Colonie. This position involves planning and executing engaging recreational programs that inspire and mentally stimulate our residents. You will work closely with the Director of Activities to ensure that the activities program is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the residents, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age; High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid New York Driver's License with clean driving record.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors.
• Ability to inspire and motivate residents, create a warm and welcoming environment, and adapt activities to resident needs.
• Understanding of residents' rights and needs.
• Physical stamina for constant activity.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Activities in planning and carrying out the activities program.
• Approach residents on assigned units to plan individual recreational and social activities; report to the Director of Activities on resident engagement and response.
• Prepare resident information for care planning and documentation; write progress notes as assigned.
• Develop and maintain good contact with community resources to enhance the activities program.
• Maintain departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Keep attendance records and prepare other required reports.
