Job Summary: Partners with other departments to provide technical/operational expertise to ensure resident education is designed/ deployed based on organizational strategies, educational and accreditation standards and best practices. Implements an evidence based curriculum that focuses on patient outcomes and leadership in the management of patient care. Works closely with management to coordinate all aspects of Family Practice Residency Program development and implementation including resident recruitment and practice oversight of the resident clinic. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages residency program to strengthen performance of residents/fellows by ensuring accreditation standards and educational outcomes are met while promoting organizational strategies and priorities.
  • Manages the daily operation of the residency program ensuring smooth flow of planning, preparation and execution of activities related to program including financial and budgetary processes, residency recruitment, resident credentialing and education.
  • Collaborates with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach.
  • Provides technical and operational support in maintaining curricular and learning systems.
  • Assists management and core faculty in preparing for accreditation audits.
  • Works with management to set standards and maintain the integrity of system data bases.
  • Analyzes data and delivers reports relevant to resident performance and outcomes.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to residents.
  • Recruits new residents through knowledge and use of the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
  • Schedules interviews and coordinates overnight accommodations for residents.
  • Coordinates residency fairs, advertisements and website reviews and develops brochures.
  • Obtains needed information from residents for State Board resident permits and registration.
  • Coordinates new hire paperwork.
  • Records faculty staff meeting minutes and maintains accurate files, including residency resource database.
  • Coordinates graduation dinners and other social events.
  • Submits National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) match list, keeping track of deadlines.
  • Assists faculty in registering for conferences and accommodations.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with the University of California, Davis Residency Program.
  • Assists in application preparation for accreditation.
  • Keeps current with regulations.
  • Facilitates and manages residency rotations.
  • Provides medical students with appropriate orientation.
  • Ensures compliance with curriculum guidelines.
  • Communicates with nursing staff regarding rotation schedules.
  • Administers appropriate testing.
  • Enters department statistics in appropriate spreadsheet.
  • Monitors duty-hour statistics and procedure logs.
  • Maintains and meets expectations for all competencies, licenses, certifications and educational requirements as outlined by local administration, the organization, Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts performance reviews and provides input on direct reports for human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Participates in the development of employees.
  • Participates in the preparation of the department budget.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
