About The Position

The Residence Worker position at Samaritan Daytop Village involves providing direct assistance, support, and care to clients residing in the facility. The role is under the general direction of the Operations Coordinator I, allowing for some independent action. The Residence Worker is responsible for supporting clients, enforcing facility rules, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. The position requires working Tuesday to Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm, with an hourly rate of $16.50. Samaritan Daytop Village is a nationally recognized comprehensive Health and Human Services Agency, serving over 33,000 New Yorkers annually.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
• One year of experience working with at-risk people who have complex needs in a similar working environment.
• Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, EMR, and the ability to learn new technologies and databases.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Willingness to obtain a CPR Certification and/or Food Protection Certificate while employed.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients with an orientation of the facility services, protocols, and policies upon arrival.
• Support clients with the check-in process, monitoring behavior and overall well-being.
• Utilize the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) to complete Intake Check-in and Discharge Conditional Intake.
• Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure all room doors are secured and clients' personal belongings are secured.
• Advocate for the client's needs, making referrals to and collaborating with appropriate resources.
• Observe clients in day-to-day routines, maintaining informal contact and developing informal opportunities to assist when needed.
• Report and document incidents.
• Bag and tag client personal belongings where needed and report room cleaning and repair needs to the Shift Supervisor.
