About The Position

The Jewish Board’s Children’s Community Residences are transforming to enhanced Children’s Community Residences that will provide vision-driven, compassionate, high quality, evidence-based services and skills development to youth and families in the communities we serve. The Jewish Board operates 4 Children’s Community Residences, 1 in Staten Island and 3 in the Bronx. Program staff will use a culturally competent, person centered approach to help youth and their families develop skills and resources to improve overall functioning, to instill hope, and to strengthen resiliency. They provide treatment, services and support that prevent hospitalization, reduce the length of time in out-of-home treatment, or re-hospitalization and connect them to needed community-based services. Our programs work closely with community partners to address the holistic needs of youth and families, while also celebrating the strengths and resilience of families and communities. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Residence Manager is a vital part of Support Team. The Residence Manager at Children’s Community Residences supervisor the Sen. Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professional. The Residence Manager is the functional supervisor of the program and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility including; ensuring there is adequate food in the house, recreational activities are carried out, youth attend their program (School, work or vocational) and that the youth attend all therapy/ medical appointments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services (or BA in related field) with 1 year of supervisory experience and be able to integrate that experience into the smooth running of the residence, or a high school diploma and at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent youth and family engagement skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Attention to details
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive agency vehicle.
  • Familiarity with working in Windows and Excel, preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software
  • The candidate should be able to read documents for analytical purposes as computer information, excel spreadsheets, software, computer graphic design programs, etc
  • Limited applications of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish), is a plus.
  • Residential experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating/overseeing programming for the youth that includes but is not limited to clinical, recreational, medical and school services; overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the clients’ treatment plan.
  • Completes weekly Direct Support Professional staff schedule, two weeks in advance to ensure appropriate program coverage and staff to youth ratio.
  • Providing supervision to all Sen. Direct Support Professional and Direct Support Professional.
  • Providing direct milieu care on an as-needed basis; and will be On-call for after hour’s crisis.
  • Ongoing collaboration with the clinical and nursing staff regarding clients functioning.
  • Participating in the intake/admission for new referrals; participating with assessments, discharges, etc.
  • Working in collaboration with the Assistant Director and HR to address issues related to staff.
  • Lead weekly treatment team meetings and group supervision with Sn.DSP/DSP; Participate in administrative meeting and staff meetings.
  • Acting as an integral part of the hiring process.
  • File all incident reports, as appropriate.
  • Review and update all incident reports in Alltrac system.
  • Complete regular and timely documentation of all youth’s interactions, including progress and informational notes.
  • Supervising all of the documentation completed by the direct support staff (incident reports, progress notes, ICMP's, missing persons etc.);
  • Completes Individual Crisis Management Plan’s.
  • Completing the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) course in addition to the Train the Trainer course in order to provide ongoing training to staff;
  • Complete and maintaining training in Medication Administration Training (MAT) in order to administer and oversee administration of medication to clients.
  • Work collaboratively with senior administration and external stakeholders.
  • Create and encourage opportunities for staff development and professional growth.
  • Will be on-call to ensure appropriate coverage in the facility and to provide guidance in emergencies; May be required provide emergency coverage in the event of a serious staff shortage.
  • Ensures program compliance with audit standards and agency policies for the DSP department.
  • Provided support to youth who identify as LGBTQAI+.
  • Provided crisis intervention, as needed.
  • Incorporate ITM groups and skills into program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
