The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) at the University of South Florida plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and engaging residential environment for students. This position is part of the Student Success Unit, which is dedicated to inspiring learning and transforming the lives of students for lifelong success. The RLC is responsible for creating a comprehensive residential program that intentionally contributes to student learning, growth, and success. This includes overseeing a community of 250-650 residents, ensuring that all residents feel included and welcomed, and promoting exemplary student success through meaningful interactions in various settings. The RLC will lead community development initiatives, providing regular interaction that challenges and supports students in their individual growth and development. They will serve as a primary advisor to the area council and will be the primary emergency response person for an on-campus community of up to 6,300 residents. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation throughout the year, as well as crisis preparedness and response, ensuring that staff and students are prepared for potential crisis situations. In addition to community development, the RLC will implement a residential curriculum that focuses on creating a meaningful residential experience. This includes mentoring at-risk first-year students, supporting Living-Learning Communities, and participating in various departmental committees and task forces. The RLC will also act as a referral agent for student success, providing basic counseling and crisis management interventions while educating students about available campus resources. The role also involves advocating for inclusivity and diversity, managing facilities operations, overseeing community programming budgets, and ensuring compliance with the USF Commitment to Honor and Code of Conduct. The RLC will play an integral role in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of student staff, contributing to a dynamic and supportive residential community.
