About The Position

Live in a dorm setting and supervise the male students of Farrow Hall. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an approachable rapport with your students as well as providing and maintaining a framework of regulations and organized procedures within which the students will live. You will create an environment conducive to the fulfillment of those educational objectives for which Freed-Hardeman University exists.

Requirements

  • Strong personal integrity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interpersonal relations and conflict management.
  • First aid and CPR certified (provided after hire if not already certified).
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training.
  • High school diploma.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to be available at all times to deal with emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Live in the residence hall (dorm) and interact with students daily.
  • Supporting the department and college mission and vision.
  • Supervising Resident Assistants.
  • Reports policy violations to the Dean of Men/Women.
  • Maintaining orderly living conditions for students.
  • Building a rapport with students.
  • Provides a list of needed supplies to the Student Services office manager.
  • Providing a weekly report to supervisors.
  • Working with students in developing communities conducive to high academic achievement.
  • Following up with discipline issues in a timely manner as requested by the Dean of Men/Women.
  • Executing emergency protocols, i.e.: fire drills, power outages, medical emergencies, etc. Educate residents about protocols.
  • Communicating with Campus Maintenance on needs and preventative maintenance projects.
  • Attends training, workshops, and meetings as required.
  • Assisting in interviewing and hiring of employees.
  • Assist in training of employees.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Appraising performance.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Housekeeping inspections.
  • Keep the key and room inventories current.
  • Notify room changes to the Housing Coordinator.
  • Oversee nightly room checks, review curfew extensions, overnight permission, group permission, and sign-out entries.
