About The Position

The Residence Hall Director is an essential employee of the Professional Staff within Residence Life which is in the Division of Student Affairs. The Residence Hall Director’s primary responsibility is to the overall management of a residence hall. The Residence Hall Director is supervised by an Associate Director of Residence Life. The position is a twelve month appointment with reappointment contingent upon an annual evaluation. The job responsibilities will require Residence Hall Directors to work evenings and some weekends to meet the needs of the department, and to maximize our effectiveness in working with students. The review of applications starts on February 15, 2026. Applications received on or before February 15th are prioritized and review will continue until the position(s) is/are filled. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually, with shortlisted candidates invited to campus. UW-La Crosse does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior Residence Life leadership experience
  • Interest in living in a Residence Hall with a highly engaged student population
  • Commitment to learning and growing in identity development and creating welcoming communities

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field
  • Experience with managing administrative and operations functions of a residence hall
  • Student supervision or co-supervision of one or more people
  • Understanding of students, student development, and the value of student voice
