About The Position

The Residence Hall Director at Adams State University is a full-time, live-in professional responsible for overseeing the Office of Housing & Residence Life. This role focuses on enhancing the educational, social, and personal growth of a diverse student population within the residence halls. The Residence Director supervises Resident Assistants, manages student conduct, and implements programming initiatives to foster a positive living environment for 250-350 residents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least two years of experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs.
• Experience living in campus housing.
• Demonstrated desire to positively influence the lives of students and create a positive community.
• Proven excellence in organizational skills and sensitivity for a diverse student population.
• Ability to treat others with respect and manage conflicts effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with concepts of supervision and student development.
• Experience in a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Responsibilities

• Select, train, develop, support, mentor, and evaluate paraprofessional Resident Assistant staff.
• Conduct weekly building/area staff meetings and one-on-one supervisory meetings with Resident Assistants.
• Oversee, support, and evaluate Resident Assistants in planning and implementation of events and activities.
• Adjudicate student conduct cases and provide support to academically at-risk students.
• Establish and maintain a Resident Assistant semester duty schedule for daily supervision of the Residence Halls.
• Serve as part of an on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and policy violations on campus.
• Cultivate professional relationships with students, parents, and other campus departments.
• Oversee building operations including check-in, check-out, and room changes.
