About The Position

The Residence Camp Director provides leadership and oversight for the Girl Scouts resident summer camp program. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all aspects of camp operations to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for campers and staff. The Camp Director manages staff, oversees program delivery, ensures compliance with safety standards, and fosters a positive camp culture aligned with the mission and values of Girl Scouting. The Camp Director will report to Outdoor Experience Manager and/or Director of Girl Experience. The Camp Director lives on-site during the camp season and works closely with council leadership to ensure the successful operation of the resident camp program.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 25.
  • Previous experience in camp leadership, youth programs, or outdoor education.
  • Experience supervising and leading staff teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain before camp begins).
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Must be available May 18, 2026 through July 20, 2026.
  • Attendance required for pre-camp training, staff training, camper sessions, and post-camp wrap-up.
  • Position requires living on-site for the duration of the camp season.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience directing or managing a resident summer camp.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout programming and philosophy.
  • Experience with risk management, safety compliance, and youth development practices.
  • Aquatic, Equestrian, or additional outdoor program certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, and oversee all resident camp programming in alignment with Girl Scout values and outcomes.
  • Ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate for campers.
  • Coordinate daily schedules, special events, and camp traditions.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise seasonal camp staff.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff members.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee day-to-day camp operations including program areas, camper supervision, scheduling, and facility use.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, risk management practices, and council policies.
  • Maintain accurate records including incident reports, camper documentation, and staff records.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for campers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Support camper well-being and address behavioral or interpersonal concerns as they arise.
  • Communicate with families and council staff as needed regarding camper experiences.
