About The Position

The Surveillance Reservoir Engineer will be a member of the Southwest Surveillance team located in Denver, CO or Houston, TX. The Surveillance Reservoir Engineer will assume a key role to optimize base production assets in the Southwest Business Unit. The engineer will strive for continual improvement on the asset by developing a deep understanding of asset performance and providing recommendations to enhance base production.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background within oil and gas industry.
  • Takes initiative to maintain and increase technical knowledge through practical application and knowledge transfer.
  • Working knowledge of different production methods.
  • Proficient and strong ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies.
  • Proficient and strong use and application of standard engineering principles and techniques including industry and company standards in assigned discipline.
  • Proficient and strong level of skill in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Effectively utilize Spotfire to increase analytical speed and efficiency.
  • Proficient and strong knowledge of Aries or other economic evaluation software programs.
  • Command of fundamental reservoir engineering disciplines including decline curve analysis (DCA), rate transient analysis (RTA), volumetrics, recoveries, fluid behavior, simple analytical history matching, and flow regime identification.
  • Proficient and strong understanding of Pressure-Temperatures phase diagrams for practical purposes.
  • Proficient and strong understanding of probabilistic and deterministic methods.
  • Can easily identify limitations in data set and range in certainty of results.
  • Proficient and strong understanding principles of flow in porous media including capillary pressure, Darcy's law, and relative permeability.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering is required
  • 2-5 years

  • Mix of operations and RE experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep understanding of assigned asset area and well performance
  • Evaluate oil and gas reserves for PDP cases at mid-year and year-end
  • Incorporate production analysis into workflow for well evaluation and forecasting purposes
  • Support the preparation of asset business plans and budget, explain variance to existing budget
  • Present well performance summaries to upper management
  • Develop strong relationship with production engineering and operations staff
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
