About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Reservoir Data Analyst to join our growing team. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in managing and analyzing critical subsurface and production data to support key reservoir engineering and corporate decision-making processes. The analyst will take ownership of the data used for reserves estimation, production forecasting, and performance optimization. This position requires a combination of strong data management skills, analytical rigor, and the ability to clearly visualize and communicate complex findings to technical and management teams. Location This is a hybrid position based out of our Morgantown, West Virginia, office. You'll be expected to work in the office three days a week.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a technical data support, analysis, or engineering role, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL for database querying and manipulation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data linking).
  • Basic understanding of reservoir engineering fundamentals (e.g., permeability, porosity, saturation) and familiarity with petroleum economics/reserves software (e.g., ComboCurve, ARIES).
  • Strong analytical acumen with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to convey complex technical data clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences.
  • Highly detail-oriented, results-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to perform light work – exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
  • Able to operate standard office/computer equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the data lifecycle by acquiring, cleaning, and integrating production and technical data from internal systems and external sources (e.g., public databases).
  • Develop, maintain, and query reservoir data structures and databases using advanced tools like SQL and industry-standard applications (e.g., ComboCurve, ARIES, Spotfire).
  • Execute statistical and trend analyses on historical production data, type curves, and performance metrics to identify opportunities and flag anomalies.
  • Audit and maintain data integrity within reservoir models and reserves estimation systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all technical workflows.
  • Design and generate clear, impactful reports and presentations that translate complex data findings into actionable insights for reservoir engineers and executive management.
  • Develop visualization tools (dashboards) to track key performance indicators related to well performance, economic limits, and reserves.
  • Troubleshoot data issues and implement improvements to data gathering and storage processes to enhance department efficiency and data reliability.
