About The Position

The Fresno County Probation Department invites applications for the position of Reserve Juvenile Correctional Officer. Incumbents provide direct supervision, counsel, and transport youth detained or committed to the Juvenile Justice Campus; supervise youth on-site or in the community; perform control room activities and functions; and perform related work as required. Reserve Juvenile Correctional Officer is an extra-help (temporary) classification. Incumbents are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, do not obtain permanent status, and serve at the will of the department head. Successful candidates will be placed at the Juvenile Justice Campus (located at Highway 99 and American Avenue).

Requirements

• Possession of a United States' high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework from an accredited college or university.
• One (1) year of full-time, paid or volunteer experience working with youth in a public setting may substitute for fifteen (15) semester units of the required education.
• Possession of a valid Class 'C' driver's license, or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required prior to appointment.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
