The Reserve EMT provides patient care in accordance with KBEMS regulations and Sedgwick County EMS Protocols. Reserve EMTs will work primarily in the capacity of providing coverage at standby events or as a 3rd person on an ambulance. They will be directly supervised when on emergency 911 calls and will be an addition to the crew and will not count as one of the 2 required crew members. Standby coverage Provide coverage at standby eventsAssess for the need for transport units and call units as neededCall for additional assessment of any patient triaged “yellow” or aboveCoordinate transport of the patient out of the venue in the safest way possible. Documentation Fill out standby form to include hours workedComplete care reports of patient refusals as needed Out of hospital health care Spend at least 24 hours per quarter riding 3rd person on an ambulanceAssist with patient care as directed by supervising crew members, including patient assessments, taking vital signs, splinting, bandaging wounds, performing CPR, and placing airway adjunctsAssist with driving and navigating duties as directedAssist with documentation as directedAssist with maintaining a safe work environment, and notify supervising crew members of safety hazards
