About The Position

As a Researcher at the NBC News Washington Bureau, you will play a critical role in the news organization’s Washington beat coverage. In this highly collaborative job, you will work closely with the news desk, beat correspondents, and other producers on key shift. The Researcher will spend their time focused on the White House beat. You should be willing to work flexible hours, days, and holidays, with a willingness to travel.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 1 years editorial experience working in production at a network/cable news operation
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, political science, another related field, or equivalent work experience
• Must be willing to live and work in Washington, D.C.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and travel
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Log beat-related events and background calls during their shifts
• Assist in breaking news & on-going story coverage, including through reporting and research
• Work with correspondents to prepare for live, taped and written reports for all NBC News Group platforms
• Utilize a variety of logging platforms, such as Otter and Media Central
• Pitch original story ideas for all platforms
• Help maintain spreadsheets and research documents related to White House
