The Research Veterinary Technician (RVT) will work closely with the DLAM veterinarians. This person will provide surgical assistance for UAMS and ACHRI. Will organize and maintain sanitation of the surgical suites, assist researchers, veterinarian and veterinary assistant as needed during surgical procedures to include animal prep, anesthesia, animal monitoring during surgery and drug administration. Will perform health assessments and enrichment of surgical animals daily and communicate concerns with veterinarian and investigators as needed. Will provide clinical assessment of animals by making regular rounds and working with animal care technicians to identify clinical issues. The RVT will assist the Assistant Director of Operations and Supervisor with animal husbandry support as needed.
