About The Position

The Stewart Laboratory in Penn State’s Department of Biology seeks a Research Technologist of Life Sciences (Senior Professional) to support research in fishes. The successful candidate will maintain lab supplies and equipment, manage and oversee fish colonies, contribute to research projects, assist in maintaining lab safety protocols of staff and student, investigates and evaluates research methods, advising faculty and researchers on optimal use of methodology and equipment, collect and analyze data, summarizing the results for dissemination in manuscripts, training PhD students and Postdocs in the lab in equipment operation and research techniques, and provide constructive feedback to both trainees and the PI on ongoing experiments. All work will be carried out in the laboratory and animal facility managed by the Stewart Lab. Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required in exchange for time off during the week. Flexibility is a must. The successful applicant must have strong organizational skills; attention to detail; the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team; good interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate clearly with team members and the PI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
