About The Position

Research Technologist - Animal Sciences perform specialized tasks associated with developing, designing, and conducting research projects and experiments under the general direction of faculty and post-docs. Tasks involve working with animals confined in conventional, barrier, quarantine, and specialized biohazard housing; may require handling of acute, chronic, and infectious diseases, quarantine procedures, and radioisotopes. Learning and managing lab orders and purchases, including supplies, reagents, animals, and documentation. Learning and handling mouse husbandry, including breeding, PCR genotyping, and documentation. Learning and performing drug treatments, including tail vein injection, oral and nasal drug administration. Learning and conducting mouse brain tissue sectioning (frozen and paraffin). Learning and acquiring images using fluorescence microscopy. Learning and conducting neurological behavioral tests in mice following stroke and brain trauma.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
