About The Position

The position involves setting up and performing routine and established lab procedures to support lab goals and grant commitments, including assays, cell/tissue culture, and animal studies. The individual will monitor results, report unusual outcomes, and suggest modifications. Responsibilities also include collecting, entering, and summarizing data, assisting in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies, and performing basic statistical data analysis. The candidate will prepare tables, charts, and graphs, and assist in organizing data. Additionally, the individual will present at research laboratory meetings and contribute to the writing of manuscripts. The role is supervised, but the candidate may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by the Principal Investigator. This is a limited tenure position approved for one year, with the possibility of turning into a regular position. The Horbinski lab focuses on understanding and treating brain tumors, particularly through preclinical modeling of gliomas and meningiomas and discovering cutting-edge molecular biomarkers using both tissue and liquid biopsies. The lab seeks passionate, driven team members who want to make a real impact in translational cancer research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science, or an associate's degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
  • Ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience with basic data analysis is required.
  • Demonstrated writing skills are necessary.
  • Solid bench experience in techniques such as western blotting, PCR, and mammalian cell culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with mice, especially brain tumor xenografts.
