About The Position

The Research Technician will work within the Genomics Core at ASU to support Next Generation Sequencing with regards to the Earth BioGenome Project. In this context, large eukaryotic genome extractions, library preparations and sequencing are the primary responsibilities of this position. Understanding of high molecular weight DNA extractions, RNA extractions, DNA and RNA library preparations for Whole Genome Assembly, full-length RNA, and Hi-C are important skills for this position. Given the size and scope of the Earth Biogenome Project, strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well both independently and in the context of a team. There is potential to participate in and assist with other genomics projects within the core, so the ideal candidate will have experience with short-read library preps and microbiome sequencing. Additionally, they will be able to meet new and unexpected challenges with creativity and ingenuity while keeping multiple responsibilities prioritized and organized.
