We are seeking an energetic and well-organized research and administrative-focused Research Technician to support Dr. Luciano Marraffini’s Lab at The Rockefeller University. The Marraffini Lab studies how CRISPR-Cas systems protect bacteria and archaea against infection by viruses and other pathogens. The team uses molecular genetic techniques to investigate the mechanisms behind these prokaryotic immune systems. The team is also characterizing other more recently discovered phage-defense systems that have not yet been studied in detail – with the goal of better understanding the evolutionary significance of the diversity of the prokaryotic immune arsenal. More information about the lab can be found on their website. We are targeting candidates with an interest and background in benchwork. This role will provide the opportunity to have a direct impact on the science being conducted in the lab. We are ideally targeting candidates that are passionate about contributing to the lab’s research and interested in the opportunity to be a co-author on publications. This role is a pivotal part of an exciting, friendly, and fast-paced lab; composed of a fun and diverse mix of graduate students and Postdoctoral Associates. This is a rare opportunity to be a part of a collaborative, cutting edge research team, and a perfect stepping stone for someone looking to gain experience prior to applications to graduate school or other research-based jobs.
