About The Position

Join the Joao Xavier Lab as a Research Technician! The Xavier Lab integrates computational modeling with experimental biology to understand how interactions between cells drive complex behaviors in systems like the tumor microenvironment, microbiome, and pathogenic bacteria. You would contribute to uncovering fundamental principles of how tumors grow and interact with their surroundings, helping to develop predictive models and innovative therapeutic strategies that could transform cancer treatment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
  • Basic laboratory skills; experience with bacterial and cell culture, wester blotting, qPCR, ELISA, CRISPR or IH staining.
  • Comfort working with mouse models is required for this role.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
  • Strong scientific curiosity with proactive approach to learning.
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
  • Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as bacterial and cell culture, qPCR, western blot, ELISA, CRISPR etc.
  • Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies.
  • Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
  • Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
