About The Position

The Bhowmick Lab, located in the Department of Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic research technician who will have the opportunity to gain expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry. The lab's primary focus is studying genome instability in cancer, which is a critical characteristic of cancer cells enabling them to adapt and evolve under constant proliferation. The lab's ultimate goal is to unravel the intricate molecular mechanisms that underpin the maintenance of genome stability, understand how cancer cells subvert these mechanisms, and develop innovative strategies to target these vulnerabilities. Ultimately, we endeavor to pioneer transformative approaches in cancer therapeutics, advancing the frontiers of scientific understanding and clinical intervention. The lab primarily relies on biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, as well as genomics, proteomics, and CRISPR screens. The Bhowmick lab is currently seeking a research technician who will be primarily responsible for conducting research, with some time dedicated to maintaining the lab's infrastructure. The new research technician will receive direct guidance and mentorship from the Principle Investigator, Dr. Bhowmick, in planning, conducting, and presenting research. The lab expects the new research technician to generate sufficient data for a first-author publication within two years of joining the team. The Bhowmick lab prioritizes the well-being of its employees, is committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates who are seeking to gain research experience before applying to graduate school.
