About The Position
THIS IS A TIME - LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS . The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a Research Technician Position. The successful candidate will participate in research activities in the Choby Laboratory. The objective of this position is to serve as a Research Technician in the Choby Lab. The lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and heteroresistance in Gram-negative bacteria. We require personnel to perform microbial culture and molecular biology techniques to perform assays that measure the frequency of populations in a bacterial culture that is resistant to a particular antibiotic, as well as contribute to lab operations that support these experiments. These measurements are used to elucidate mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and phenotypic heterogeneity. Work Schedule Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Responsibilities
- Perform microbial culture
- Perform molecular biology techniques to perform assays that measure the frequency of populations in a bacterial culture that is resistant to a particular antibiotic
- Contribute to lab operations that support these experiments
