About The Position

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine's Section of Biomedical Data Science is searching for a Research Technician, whose primary activity will be analysis of large medical datasets using R and Python, attending and documenting collaborative meetings, developing and implementing forecasting model for medical conditions. The role will be required to maintain a high level of independence and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computational biology, biomedical data sciences, or a related field.
  • Background with biomedical data science.
  • Knowledge and experience in research techniques or methods, including sqlite3, R, Python, and basic machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provides computational support activities to scientific research projects.
  • Analyses and maintains data.
  • Develops computational workflows under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
  • Conducts literature reviews.
  • Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
