The University of Arizona School of Plant Sciences (SPLS) is housed within the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences (CALES). Through several robust undergraduate, graduate and research programs, SPLS is a leader in the study of plants, the organisms that underpin the survival of all life on Earth and the microbes associated with them. This position will focus on the analysis of high-throughput phenotyping data generated by the UA Field Scanner, the world's largest outdoor phenotyping platform. The position entails organizing and processing high dimensional data representing different data and sensing modalities generated by the scanner. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing three years worth of data, developing statistical approaches and methods as needed and independently, and then conducting genome wide association analyses to identify regions of the lettuce genome controlling phenotypic variation for a multitude of traits. The incumbent will be expected to document and report, in written format, the analyses performed and the results obtained. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to help with agricultural field research. This is a Temporary position expected to last less than 89 days.
